Weight Loss: Healthy Weight Maintenance Information

Monday, August 3rd, 2009

When purchasing any weight loss product, it is important to do your research. Many people are exchanging their opinions about Weight Loss on DietBlogTalk.comFor an additional source, check out Weight Loss on the very popular Sensational.com

Why It Is Important To Maintain A Healthy WeightThere is a simple way to keep you heart, mind and body overall in good health: maintain a weight appropriate for your build, gender and age. Though it may seem like a simple matter, a healthy weight can prevent heart disease, high blood sugar and cholesterol, certain kinds of cancer, and depression; this is not to mention the obvious improvement in overall appearance and self-image. And despite what many people think about losing weight, it can be quite simple—a routine of healthy eating and daily exercise plus proper supplementation is often enough to take off and keep off extra weight. What To Look For In A DietA diet that is designed around healthy and permanent weight loss will be based on nourishment rather than deprivation. People who reach a healthy weight and maintain it usually do so by eating a well-rounded diet of fresh foods from each food group. Such a diet serves two purposes for the dieter by keeping hunger at bay while also stimulating the metabolism to burn faster. Diet guides, weight loss cookbooks, and structured meal plans can provide dieters with a way to stay focused on their goals.Exercise, too, can become easier when certain resources are employed. At-home exercise equipment is often a good way to exercise, as it is convenient for the dieter; workout DVDs and book-based programs provide a similar benefit. As long as the dieter is keeping up her heart rate for at least 30 minutes at a time, she can assume it has been a productive workout that may lead to weight loss. It is recommended that those losing weight stay active nearly every day in order to experience continuous benefits (fat being turned to energy, a faster metabolism, creation of lean muscle, etc). You may also want to try one of the proven weight loss supplements now available. When used in conjunction with diet and exercise they can offer some good assistance. Look for one with ingredients that burn fat and help to control the appetite and cravings.Where To Find Good InformationAny dieter seeking free information can find what they’re looking for online—there are many sites devoted to dieting, exercising and the products that make weight loss easier. You can tell a reputable weight loss site based on its affirmation of eating well and staying fit as the keys to weight loss; another indication is its unbiased look at supplements and equipment. A product site should feature comments from consumers or a user-run rating system. Message boards and forums that allow dieters to post can also be a great place to ask questions or find encouragement from others who are losing weight.ConclusionThankfully, the increase in obese and overweight people has been met with the creation of new resources to help all people lose weight. Maintaining an ideal weight yields so many benefits, from a great looking body to a healthy heart, that there is no reason to not start on the path to weight loss right away. Let today be the day you gather weight loss resources (cookbooks, guides, meal plans), exercise supports (equipment, DVDs, books by the experts) and online information so you can begin burning fat, defeating your cravings and working your way to a better you.

Are you a woman who is interested in losing weight? If you are, you are not alone. In the United States, a large number of women are concerned with health and beauty related issues, including those pertaining to weight. While it is often a lot easier said than done, it is more than possible for you to lose weight and to lose weight “naturally.” If you are interested in losing weight “naturally,” without the assistance of weight loss pills, you will want to continue reading on. What you need to know about losing weight naturally is that it requires quite a bit of hard work and restraint on your part. The two most important components of losing weight are exercise and healthy eating. Without these two components of weight loss, there is a good chance that you will not lose any weight, in fact, you may keep on gaining more.  When it comes to eating healthy, there are many women who don’t know where to start. One of the first things that you will want to do is start researching healthy foods and healthy recipes. You can do this by either using the internet, which should be free, or by buying a collection of healthy eating cookbooks. These healthy eating cookbooks are typically available for sale in health stores, department stores, and book stores, both on and offline. Once you know what to cook, you can then start eating healthy. Speaking eating healthy, it is important that you do not keep on eating the same foods over and over again, no matter how good they taste. Unfortunately, many women end up getting bored with eating the same foods again and again. This is often what leads many women off of the healthy eating path. This is a mistake that you do not want to make. Perhaps, that is why you should buy a collection of healthy eating cookbooks or take the time to research healthy eating recipes online, as it gives you a larger selection of foods to choose from. As previously stated, exercise is the other important component of losing weight. If you are interested in seriously losing weight, it is important that you start exercising. When it comes to exercising and working out, you will find that you have a number of different options. For many individuals, exercising means hitting their local fitness center, but it can also mean going for a morning walk or run. Whether you put in an exercise DVD at your home or decide to lift weight at your local fitness center, this exercise is important to you, your health, and your weight loss goals. As with eating healthy foods, you may want to think about spicing up your exercises and workouts as well. This will help you stay excited about losing weight and exercising. To help keep the excitement alive, as well as give you a little bit of motivation, you may want to think about contacting some of your friends or family members to see if they would like to become your workout partner or workout buddy. In short, the combination of healthy eating and exercise is sure to spell success. While it does take a lot of hard work and determination to lose weight, you will likely be more than pleased with the results.

Calorie Overload Exposed For Home Cooking

Wednesday, June 17th, 2009

With recession fears meaning more of us are cooking at home, this could have health benefits compared with calorie-dense takeaway and restaurant meals. But the number of calories per serving in classic recipes cooked at home has increased by nearly 40 percent in the past 70 years. This is the finding of a recent study that reveals the trend of growing portion sizes in numerous cookbooks.

We are so used to eating ever-increasing quantities of food that we haven’t noticed how many extra calories we are overloading on our plates, according to dietitian and author of Portion Perfection – A visual weight control plan Amanda Clark Adv APD.

“A calorie increase of 40 percent per serving is sizeable because a rise of just 10 percent is enough to result in weight gain,” said Australian dietitian Amanda Clark. The author has developed a new e-game called Plate Smash as a visual tool to show adults and teenagers how much is right to eat for lunch.

“I believe most people would like to eat the right amount, if only they knew what that was. The Plate Smash game makes you stop and think about how many calories you are putting on your plate for one meal,” said Mrs Clark.

The game was also designed for parents who want to learn the right quantities of various foods their active or inactive teenagers devour for lunch, including pizza, sushi, sandwiches, meat pies, French fries and chicken nuggets.

“If parents and teens know their calorie limits, this could help prevent and manage rising obesity in young people,” said Mrs Clark.

“Latest research shows the best way to lose weight is to eat what you want and get into the habit of limiting your portion sizes. Reduced-calorie diets result in meaningful weight loss if you stick with them, regardless of whether they are low-fat, low-carb or high-protein.”

“If you focus on eating the perfect portions, you can eat the foods you like including the occasional treats,” said Mrs Clark. “This means you won’t feel deprived and can stick to a healthy way of eating for life.”

Amanda’s book Portion Perfection features hundreds of photographs of popular foods and drinks to graphically show how much is right to eat for adults, teens and children.

The Cook Yourself Thin TV Show producers gave the audience the chance to put their weight-loss dilemmas to the Cook Yourself Thin presenters. Here’s the advice that Sal gave to Laura.

Laura’s question

“Hi, I’m a carboholic. I can live without cakes, sweets etc but I love starchy carbs.

“Is there a diet plan I can follow that doesn’t compromise my carb intake too much?

“Thanks! Laura”

Sal’s advice and Cook Yourself Thin Recipes

“Forget diets – they are too depressing for words, as often you deprive yourself of foods you love and then you crave them and before you know it you fall of the wagon, so to speak.

“It’s about getting back in the kitchen and cooking again but cleverly… so if you love pasta dishes then think about making homemade tomato sauces rather than creamy ones and adding vegetables to it to balance the meal out.

“One of my favourites is a good homemade tomato sauce with chopped black olives, tabasco and chopped anchovies with say tuna.

“If you want a creamy pasta idea try my carbonara in the book… it doesn’t compromise on the flavour but is certainly less calories.

“With regards to cakes etc… try making your own because you then know what has gone into it.

“Try Harry’s chocolate and beetroot cake as it is so intense that I even struggled to eat more than one slice, and I love chocolate and cakes.

“Happy cooking!” Check out Cook Yourself Thin Lifetime TV Show and Cook Yourself Thin Channel 4 Show.
